KalturaBrooklyn-based Kaltura had a good September. The collaborative video editing site officially launched and won the people’s choice award at the TechCrunch40 conference in San Francisco.

Online group video making is an intriguing idea, but questions remain. How is Kaltura different from Jumpcut.com? Does its mash-up of online video and wiki make sense beyond a web 2.0 boom?

‘It’s a sign the industry is maturing,’ the vlog pioneer said. ‘Inevitably in the near future video advertising is going to be the number one most profitable way to make money online, as long as you can build a big audience.’
