UpNext added to Web2NewYork line-up
UpNext is now confirmed as the fourth presenter for next week’s Web2NewYork. Co-founder Danny Moon will present the latest improvements to the 3D city navigation tool.
Other presenters at the August 14 networking party at Gallery Bar are HeyCosmo, Snooth and KickApps’ Aaron Bollinger.
UpNext was a huge hit a couple of months ago when they presented at the NY Tech Meetup. Since then the New York-based startup has made the 3D map larger and expandable, added more community features and removed the registration requirement for the site.

UpNext is not a great addition to the lineup. Their website offers absolutely nothing. Sorry Peter, but this is a very bad call.

UpNext elevated my NYC local search-ability to another level - saw this at Tech Meetup - def highly recommend .. check it out now, bc looks like completely updated version from last month’s Meetup demo.

OK, “Alex”, will you attend next week’s networking party? Could be an interesting discussion.

Alex, no need to be such a ass. Have you ever seen a 3d app run that fast in the browser? Let alone a full interactive city? Upnext just launched and they have lots of potential. It took them years just to build the technology. They very well may bring the web into a new 3d era. Personally I think it may define the interface for the future of local search.

John: Im not trying to be an ass. I just dont see it as a useful application. Isnt Google doing the same thing (tagging locations, reviews, etc)? As far as Im concerned Google will be on top no matter what. Ive seen Upnext presented before, but why see it again? Im not coming to the meetup next week (Im not a member of the group) but I am entitled to my own opinions.

Alex: You are more than entitled to your own opinion and you brought up some good points. Google is doing similar things. But we feel our interface, speed and multi-level search (keyword, categories and building by building) make for a better local search experience.
We are making the rounds at the meet ups. We are new and trying to get the word out. But we do add new features or improvements to the site before each demo so there is something fresh to the presentation.
The site is still new and we are constantly making improvements and adding features. Try out the site some more and if you want, feel free to email me anytime with your feedback at dmoon /at/ upnext /dot/ com.
